Well another Motor City Comic Con has come and gone, but I had a blast this weekend. Although it was wall-to-wall people on Saturday, the people are what made this con such a good time.  Thanks to everyone who came out to support Team Science! And thanks to everyone who stopped by and checked out Science Girl.

One of the best things about doing conventions is meeting all sorts of new and exciting people– then getting to see them all over again the next year. This year I was between three amazing artists who helped to make the weekend a lot of fun– Leslie Gauthier of Gingerly Made and Tyler and Sara Sowles of Killustration Studios. If you’re a fan of awesome art made by awesome artists, you’d be a fool not to check them out!

If you went to Motor City Comic Con and you picked up a copy of Science Girl, tell us what you think! We’re hard at work on Chapter 2 and your feedback helps us make the best science possible. What did you like? What didn’t you like? Who is your favorite character so far? What made you laugh?

Leave your comments below! And don’t forget to check us out on Facebook too. And stay tuned in for more information on the continuing adventures of Edie and her robot buddies.

Science Abounds at Motor City Comic Con

motor city comic con

If you’re heading out to Novi this weekend for the Motor City Comic Con then be on the lookout for science! One half of Team Science– that’s me, the writer K-Mo– is going to be setting up shop in Artist’s Alley.  I’ll have Science Girl comics for sale and our two new buttons designs will be making their glorious debut. Grab one or both of them, or ALL of them.

I’ll also have plenty of free Science Girl coloring books as well as Science Girl decals for your car, laptop, rocket ship or whathaveyou. Stickers and buttons and coloring books? This sounds like Robocorn’s favorite kind of event.

Come by and say hey! And if you’re lucky, you might just see a special guest appearance from the elusive  Jesse Hughes, artist of Science Girl and creator of CosmiCat!

Check Out the New Science Girl Character Profile Page

Edie ThompkinsA comic book without characters is just, like you know, backgrounds and word bubbles. The characters of Science Girl are a weird and wacky bunch and now you can learn more about them in our character profile section.

The gang is all here from Edie and Wilhelm to Dr. Vulcan and his Vulcanbots. Be sure to check in with this page often as it will be updated whenever new character are introduced into the world of Science Girl.

Which character is your favorite? Which one would you most want to hang out with? Which one would you hate to be around? Let us know!

(spoiler alert: the answer to all three questions is “Robocorn.”)

Button, Button, Who’s Got the Button?

Happy Toaster!
If you want to show the world you’re a fan of Science Girl and you want to look fashionable while doing so, then boy do we have some good news for you. Team Science is proud to present two new Science Girl buttons designs.

The first design features Happy Toaster, a character from Science Girl: Double Feature. His claim to fame is his perfect toast and cheerful disposition! The toast coming out of his back are his companions Buttery and Crispy, who appear to be sentient toast. We’re not entirely sure what that’s all about– like, are you supposed to eat his friends? Can Happy Toaster turn ordinary bread into toasty living beings? Some questions are probably best left unanswered.

purple science girl symbolThe second design is a purple variation of the Science Girl logo. Did you know this isn’t just a logo? It’s got a special significance to the story that has yet to be revealed. But from a design standpoint, the logo represents Edie’s love of science. Not only that, it represents Edie’s personal credo– to only put love into her inventions and to never create for hate.

For now the only way you can get these buttons are to buy them at a convention, but stay tuned for online ordering details as soon as we work out the kinks!

Vulcanbot by Katie Cook

Vulcanbot by Katie CookThis weekend at Detroit Fanfare we received this adorable drawing of a Vulcanbot by Katie Cook, creator of Gronk Comics!

He’s much more cute and cuddly than the homicidal razor-bladed Vulcanbots that Edie encounters in Science Girl #1. I’m sure Edie would much rather be chased by this guy than a real Vulcanbot any day of the week.

Thanks Katie for the awesome art! For more of her work, check out “Gronk: A Monster’s Story” at www.gronkcomics.com
